Exclusive: Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Spotted Ahead Of 6/19 Edition Of AEW Dynamite

A former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion has been spotted ahead of tonight’s AEW Dynamite.

Tonight’s AEW Dynamite hails from the EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia where the build to AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door counts down to June 30 at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York where in the main event, Swerve Strickland looks to walk out with the AEW World Championship against the current International Champion, Will Ospreay.

The current stars of New Japan that are set to face off with All Elite Wrestling are Jeff Cobb, Tetsuya Naito, Zack Sabre Jr, Stephanie Vaquer, and STARDOM’s Mina Shirakawa who are all confirmed to be going after championship gold at Forbidden Door.

However, now there is another potential name from New Japan Pro Wrestling that is set to make an appearance at tonight’s show in Virginia and we here at BodySlam.Net have the exclusive on it before it’s showtime.

Sources tell us that former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Shingo Takagi has been spotted at the hotel that talent is staying at ahead of tonight’s AEW Dynamite. He was seen talking with the talent and having coffee with Bryan Danielson at the coffee shop this morning.

Takagi’s history with Forbidden Door featured him at the first event where he teamed up with the legendary Icon Sting and Darby Allin as the ‘Dudes with Attitude’ to defeat El Phantasmo and the Young Bucks. The following year, Takagi was on the buy-in for Forbidden Door where he teamed up with Bushi and Hiromu Takahashi to defeat the United Empire (T. J. Perkins, Kyle Fletcher, and Jeff Cobb).

This past January, Takagi lost to the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley at the Battle in the Valley event in a No DQ match. Takagi would go on to win the NEVER Openweight Championship at Sakura Genesis this past April before losing it to Henare at New Japan Soul on June 14.

We will keep you updated if we hear anything more about Shingo Takagi being spotted at the hotel ahead of AEW Dynamite in Fairfax, Virginia at the EagleBank Arena.
