WWE Continues Erroneous Claim Of History Making Women’s Match In Abu Dhabi

Earlier this month WWE made a claim that the match between Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss held at a WWE Live Event from Abu Dhabi was the first-ever women’s match in the history of the United Arab Emirates. A claim that is actually false.

WWE posted a video yesterday touting their historic event, you can view the video below:

On last week’s episode of RAW, Stephanie McMahon amended WWE’s claim and noted that Banks vs Bliss was the first-ever women’s match in Abu Dhabi in WWE history. However, WWE has since released the video above, once again touting their “history making” match, with the following, original claim:

“WWE Superstars meet the WWE Universe in Abu Dhabi, while Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss make history competing in the first women’s match in the United Arab Emirates.”

It should be noted that the first ever women’s match in UAE history was actually a match held by TNA back in 2010 that featured Madison Rayne, Angelina Love, Velvet Sky and Sarita.

Here is a series of tweets from earlier in the month where Velvet Sky acknowledges the erroneous claim by WWE:

Former ECW Original and WWE Superstar Tommy Dreamer even chimed in, citing the difference between TNA’s match and WWE’s, was that the Impact match was a private event while WWE’s match was a public one.

So I guess the saying is that if it didn’t happen in WWE then it never really happened at all….
