How Will Jeremy Borash’s Departure Effect Impact Wrestling?
As was reported earlier today former Impact Wrestling employee Jeremy Borash has signed a deal with WWE and will be working with the NXT brand going forward.
This move comes as a huge blow to Impact Wrestling, and will greatly affect the company’s plans going forward, at least in terms of their announce team.
PWInsider is reporting that the initial plan that Impact Wrestling had in place was to move Josh Mathews into more of an on-air character role, this plan went into effect at the last set of TV tapings where Mathews was positioned alongside Matt Sydal as his “spiritual advisor”.
Impact had planned on having Jeremy Borash lead the revamped announce team and place new Impact Executive Don Callis by his side as a commentator. These plans will obviously now be scrapped going forward. Nothing has been said as to who will replace Borash as lead announcer at this time.
It will also be interesting to see what Impact Wrestling plans to do with any of the in-ring content that Borash hadn’t already performed voiceovers for.
