Mark Henry Confronts Jerry Lawler Backstage Over Treatment Of Peter Rosenberg
After Royal Rumble weekend, BodySlam.net’s Managing Editor Brad Shepard began receiving new information about backstage heat on WWE co-host Peter Rosenberg.
During the Royal Rumble kickoff show, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn refused to answer questions from Rosenberg, which was not a planned part of the show. That stemmed from a Twitter interaction where Rosenberg was allegedly playing up a heel character online, but the execution of it probably ended different than he imagined.
More details have surfaced over the heat on Rosenberg, which Jerry Lawler shed light on this week, on episode 44 of his podcast, “Dinner With the King.” Lawler alleges that Mark Henry confronted him in the dressing room early in the afternoon on the day of the Royal Rumble. Lawler alleges that Henry got a real serious look on his face and said, “I think me and you are gonna have to fight.” Henry told Lawler the matter was over his friend, Peter Rosenberg, who he helped get a job in WWE. Henry told Lawler that Rosenberg is a huge pro wrestling fan and a close friend, and Rosenberg told Henry that he believes Lawler doesn’t like him. Lawler told Henry he doesn’t know Pete and has only said things in the past to add a little conflict to the show, like mispronouncing his name, and he thinks Rosenberg took exception to that. Henry then allegedly responded by saying that maybe it was just Rosenberg being too sensitive.
During an episode last summer of “Dinner With the King,” Lawler said that he was somewhat legitimately upset that Rosenberg wore an old Bobby Heenan jacket on the SummerSlam Kickoff show. Lawler has also intentionally mispronounced Rosenberg’s name in jest in previous episodes of his podcast.
