As seen on this Monday’s episode of RAW, Seth Rollins scored pinfalls over both Roman Reigns and John Cena during the gauntlet match to open the show. Rollins lasted 65 minutes in the match, setting a RAW record for lost performance in a match on the show.
On today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated that the reason Rollins went over Reigns in the match is because this is setting up a potential feud between the two sometime down the line.
“Roman’s loss is just not a loss. A lot of times I get mad when they have a top guy lose for no reason whatsoever. It’s kinda like, if you’re a top guy and you lose it should only be for a reason. And this had a reason, I think. I think the reason is that Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins will be working a program down the line. If they’re not, then it was for no reason.”
