More Conflicting Reports For Intercontinental Title Match At WrestleMania
In this week’s issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the plans for the Intercontinental Title Match at WrestleMania 34 would feature The Miz defending against Seth Rollins and Finn Balor. Other sources and media outlets have reported differently.
Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso reported this week that WWE’s plan for the Intercontinental Title at this year’s WrestleMania is to have The Miz defend the belt in a Fatal 5-Way Match against Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Elias, and Braun Strowman.
According to a report in the last audio update on PWInsider Elite, Mike Johnson is mentioned that the talk backstage at RAW this week was that Braun Strowman would be challenging for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania in possibly a ladder match.
“The story making it’s rounds backstage at RAW, and again I don’t know if this is 100% fact and that’s the reason we haven’t written about it, there are some people pitching the idea of an Intercontinental Title Match and with Braun being one of the potential challenges in a Ladder Match.”
On the other hand, Dave Meltzer is also reporting that Braun Strowman is the backup plan for the Main Event at WrestleMania just in case things don’t work out with Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar. This seems to the case after the recent steroid allegations being made against Reigns have caused issues and internal concerns within the company.
