Injury Update On Former NXT Champion Drew McIntyre
Former NXT Champion Drew McIntyre who suffered an injury back at NXT TakeOver: War Games back in November of last year in a match against Andrade “Cien” Almas appears to be close to an in-ring return.
The initial report stated that the timetable for McIntyre’s return from suffering a torn bicep was around 5 to 6 months, which seriously jeopardized his availability for NXT TakeOver: New Orleans over WrestleMania 34 Weekend.
PWInsider is reporting that Drew McIntyre has been spotted at the WWE Performance Center this week rehabbing and training for his in-ring return following bicep surgery. The report added that McIntyre was even able to get into the ring this week.
It should be noted that McIntyre did not appear at Wednesday’s NXT TV Tapings at Full Sail University which was the final set of tapings prior to TakeOver: New Orleans. Even though no storylines or angles were run setting up a match or program for McIntyre leading into TakeOver, that does not mean that he cannot be added to the card in some fashion later.
It has been speculated that McIntyre could show up at TakeOver: New Orleans to set up a storyline regarding how he is still owed his rematch for the NXT Title after losing the belt to Almas at TakeOver: War Games last November.
