Another Reason WWE Decided To Change The Name Of The Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal
It was announced earlier today that WWE decided to change the name of the first-ever “Fabulous Moolah Memorial Battle Royal” which takes place on this year’s WrestleMania 34 card. The decision was made to change the name after WWE received a lot negative feedback over naming the match in honor of The Fabulous Moolah.
A WWE Representative issued as statement earlier today making the announcement of the change to the match. It was announced that the match will now be called the “WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal”.
You can see the official statement from WWE below:
“After further consideration, we believe it’s best to proceed with the name “WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal”. What remains most important is that this historic match is part of WWE’s unwavering commitment to the Women’s Division.”
Sean Ross Sapp, of fightful.com, is reporting that there is more to the story than just backlash from fans which caused WWE to make the decision to change the name of the match. Sapp reports that he was told that Snickers, who is a primary sponsor of this year’s WrestleMania 34, also complained about the negative publicity being received from the match being associated with The Fabulous Moolah’s name.
You can see Sapp’s tweet embedded below:
