Paige Make First Public Statement Since Announcing Her Retirement Last Night On RAW
As seen on last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW, WWE Superstar Paige announced her retirement from in-ring competition.
Paige underwent a very serious surgery to repair damage to her neck that kept her out of action for around a year before she finally made her in-ring return late last year. While only back a short time, Paige suffered yet another neck injury in a match during a WWE Live Event in Long Island during a six-woman tag match. Paige took a pair of double boots to the back of the neck/shoulder area in the corner from Sasha Banks, which resulted in Paige immediately collapsing to the mat where she was unable to get up and remained down for awhile before eventually regaining feeling and was able to walk to the back with help from medical staff. At first it was believed to be a stinger, but the injury turned out to be far worse than expected as WWE Doctors would not clear her to compete again, forcing her into retirement.
Fast forward a couple months and you get Paige’s heartfelt retirement speech last night at The Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana the very same building in which Paige made her main roster debut almost four years to the day prior.
Paige has spoken today for the first time since she announced her retirement last night on RAW, saying “Completely overwhelmed with the love and support. Thank you everyone. Seriously means so much to me. This isn’t the end though. Just the beginning of something special. #ThankYou #ThisIsMyHouse”
