After WWE travels to Saudi Arabia for the Greatest Royal Rumble, the next week is the first co-branded pay-per-view Backlash.
There has only been two matches announced so far. One match for the Intercontinental Championship with Seth Rollins defending against The Miz. The Second match will be Roman Reigns against Samoa Joe in a singles match.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio (transcript from RingsideNews), Dave Meltzer spoke about a possible Cruiserweight Championship match at WWE Backlash. The pro wrestling journalist noted that Mustafa Ali will likely challenge Alexander at the Greatest Royal Rumble event while Buddy Murphy will challenge for the title at the Backlash pay-per-view event.
Meltzer’s had the following quote to say on the situation:
“It will probably be Mustafa Ali vs. Alexander for Saudi Arabia and probably Buddy Murphy if he can make weight against Cedric Alexander for Backlash, I guess.”
