Rumor Killer On Daniel Bryan’s Current Status With WWE
As seen on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown LIVE, Daniel Bryan lost in the main event to Rusev in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match Qualifier.
Following his loss to Rusev and failure to qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at next months PPV, many online began to speculate as to what this meant for Daniel Bryan and his future with WWE. On today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez was asked if Daniel Bryan had told WWE that he was not planning to re-sign with the company, and if the company was just using him to put over talents before his departure.
Alvarez had a very straight forward reply and answer for the question regarding Daniel Bryan’s status and plans in WWE. Regarding Daniel Bryan’s WWE status, Alvarez said:
“He ain’t leaving. You guys watch the show? He lost and then for two minutes they showed him sitting on the apron looking very disappointed in himself. There’s a story being told here. The story is he has a long journey to work his way back to the WWE Title. That’s the story they’re telling so chill out and let’s see how it goes. It’s okay to lose once in a while.”
It was also noted on the show that WWE does not see Daniel Bryan as a main event guy. Instead they at least see him as being an upper mid-card guy, which was pointed out that is better than the company has booked him in the past. While the company could have plans to reinsert Bryan into the main event picture, it appears if that is the case then the plan is a longterm one and the build for his momentum gain will be a long one.
