Update On Reason Why WWE Decided To Book Ronda Rousey vs. Nia Jax At Money In The Bank
It was announced last week that Ronda Rousey will challenge WWE RAW Women’s Champion Nia Jax for the title at the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV.
Many felt that WWE fast tracking Rousey for a title shot when at the time of the announcement she had only had one professional match with the company, was an unusual and odd booking decision. It had been reported by some media outlets that the reason WWE decided to book Rousey for a shot at the RAW Women’s Title at Money In The Bank instead of SummerSlam was because the company did not want to ignore her for another Pay-Per-View, as well as WWE not wanting to place Ronda into a ladder match just yet, or have her lose a qualifying match.
It now appears as though that there may be a little bit more to the reasoning behind WWE placing Ronda Rousey into a Championship Match in what would be just her second televised match (barring she does not compete on RAW between now and MITB). It a recent audio update via PWInsider Elite, Mike Johnson revealed that the real reason WWE decided to book Ronda Rousey to compete for the belt at Money in the Bank was because they felt the event lacked any attraction. With WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar not scheduled to appear, the company felt the next biggest draw or attraction for them was Rousey.
Regarding Rousey being added to the RAW Women’s Championship match at next month’s Money in the Bank PPV from the Allstate Arena in Chicao, Johnson said:
“They wanted an attraction for the Money in the Bank pay-per-view,”
