How Will SmackDown’s Move To Friday Night Effect WWE’s Live Event Schedule?
With today’s news of the MASSIVE five year deal between WWE and FOX for the rights to broadcast SmackDown on their main network, and additional news that the show will move to Friday nights, it has left many wondering how this may effect WWE’s scheduled House shows the company typically runs over the weekend.
The topic was discussed on today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Live, and Bryan Alvarez had an interesting opinion about future WWE Live Event’s or “House Shows”. Regarding WWE Live Events, Alvarez said:
“It doesn’t matter. They literally could cancel every house show from this point forward and never run another house show again it doesn’t matter. Shut down the WWE Network, it doesn’t matter. They could stop selling merchandise it doesn’t matter.”
“They’re making $2 billion in the next five years on television. So I don’t know what they’ll do with house shows. Maybe they’ll change the house show schedule, maybe they’ll stop running some house shows. It doesn’t matter. It does not matter.”
Only time will tell how this huge influx of revenue could change the landscape of WWE, but we will keep you updated as more information becomes available.
