WWE officials confirmed that they have signed Japanese wrestler Io Shirai.
The company had previously tried to sign Shirai, but WWE doctors found out that she has a neck injury, when she was unable to pass WWE medical examinations during the signing proces.
WWE revoked their contract offer because they have a general policy to avoid signing wrestlers who are suffering from Neck Injuries and Concussions. However, Shirai did not give up and has recovered from the neck injury.
The WWE doctors have cleared Shirai to compete in the ring, and then Shirai surprised everyone at the WWE live event held in Ryogoku Kokugikan.
WWE officially announced that she would be competing in their developmental territory, NXT.
