Some of you may remember the “Lions Den Matches” that WWE(F) put on in the late 1990’s involving Ken Shamrock against Owen Hart and also another against Steve Blackman. The idea behind the match was to put on a worked shoot-fight to capitalize on the MMA background of Shamrock who was a former UFC Champion.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented on the possibility of WWE putting on an MMA style matchup between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley.
“You know I can actually see them doing that as far as that idea I could see that. As far as a fight between the two of them, there’s no way of knowing. Brock fought much tougher guys than Lashley did. Brock and Lashley were pretty much opposites.”
“Lashley fought a lot of guys that weren’t particularly great. In fact he never fought anyone who was great at all. Brock only fought guys who were good or great. Brock did very well against them. As far as their attributes and everything. Lashley had more of a tough time conditioning than Brock did.”
