Total Bellas season three has been the most talked about season of the reality show so far. Fans are dying to know what went down between John Cena and Nikki Bella, what caused them to break off their engagement, and luckily the cameras were there to capture every single moment. With the season finale right about the corner, I decided to catch up on the season myself to see what about this season specifically was drawing the fans in.
Wedding Plans and Baby Fever
The season starts off right away talking about Nikki and John’s wedding. Nikki is starting to plan the wedding and the first thing viewers see is John re-proposing to Nikki in the spot she thought he was going to propose in a couple of years back. The scene ends with John making jokes saying that if Nikki should change her name, he could go around asking people have you Cena? This is about the only light moment viewers get from the couple in the first episode. When asked about where the wedding will be Nikki says that it will be taking place in John’s hometown, even though she would love for her wedding to take place in Napa Valley. She states that she does not want John to change his mind about the wedding and she is making these plans so that he is happy, leaving no wiggle room for him to back out.
This is not the only problem that Nikki is facing in this episode. Nikki has two adorable nieces, Birdie who is her sister’s daughter and Vivian who is her brother’s daughter. Throughout the episode viewers see Nikki on the floor with her nieces playing around, having fun, and even trying to get John to hold Birdie unsuccessfully. By the end of the episode Nikki states to the audience in the interview section that she would love to be a Mom, after viewers have watched her struggle throughout the episode with the idea of being a Mom and sacrificing that for her life with John, yet she does not say this to John.
From Bri Mode to Mom Mode
Nikki isn’t the only one who seems to be struggling on Total Bellas this season. In the first episode viewers watch Bri and Nikki do a photo shoot for Birdiebee, their clothing and intimates line. With Nikki and Bri both being the models for the shoot, Bri continuously makes remarks about how she has not lost the weight she has wanted to since having Bridie, and how Nikki is now the better-looking twin. Bri compares herself to Wonder Woman in this episode, saying that she wants to be able to do it all. She is itching to get back to work, to get back into the ring, but at the same time is worried about missing the big moments in Birdies life. This escalates to Bri getting mad at her husband, Daniel Bryan, for taking their daughter to the pool for the first time without her. Bri realizes that there are some things that she is going to miss in her daughter’s life if she decides to go back into the ring, and she must come to terms with that.
What’s in Store for the Rest of the Season?
The episode ends with a clip reel showing what is to come on the rest of season three, ending rather dramatically with an image of John and Nikki sitting in silence before Nikki states, so are we really going to call this off? It is obvious that this season of Total Bellas is going to mainly focus on John and Nikki. In the past, the seasons have had a solid balance of all the Bella’s, including their brother and mom, and what was going on in their lives. This does not seem to be the case from the get go of this season, it’s all about John and Nikki, which makes sense because right now their lives are the most dramatic. Since this was filmed around January, knowing where it is going to lead to makes the show sometimes pretty tough to watch, but one thing is clear, fans better buckle up and hold on tight because this season is going to be one hell of a ride.
