Jerry Lawler Says He Tried To Get His Son Brian Christopher A Job With WWE
As we have been reporting over the last couple of days, former WWE Superstar, and son of WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler, Brian Christopher Lawler passed away Sunday after he attempted to take his own life Saturday night while in jail for his most recent DUI arrest.
Brian remained on life support Sunday until Jerry was able to return to Tennessee to tell his son goodbye. Brian was pronounced dead around 4:40 PM yesterday afternoon after the family made the decision to remove him from life support.
It was reported on Wrestling Observer Radio by Dave Meltzer that Jerry “The King” Lawler had actually offered to get his son Brian Christopher a job if he was able to stay clean for a year. It wasn’t noted exactly what the job Jerry was referring too was, but we can only assume that he was talking about a job within WWE in some capacity, potentially even as a trainer at the Performance Center.
Regarding Jerry Lawler offering to help Brian get a job if he was able to stay clean, Meltzer said:
“Jerry had told [Christoper] many times that if you can clean yourself up for a year I’ll get you a job. You know whether it’s a trainer at the Performance Center which is kind of like what he was hinting or something, but ‘you’ve got to clean yourself up for a year.’ There would be periods where he would get clean to a degree, but it never lasted a year. I know one of his friends told me a couple of months and another one said that you know, his version of clean — the ‘wrestler version of clean’ is that he was on methadone and things like that.”
