Colby Covington Presents The UFC Welterweight Championship To President Donald Trump
Prior to his UFC Fight for the Interim Welterweight Championship against Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 225 back in June, Colby Covington claimed that he was going to win the Interim Welterweight Title and then go to Washington D.C. where he would present to the belt to President Donald Trump. Covington was victorious in the title fight against dos Anjos for the Interim Welterweight Title by unanimous decision.
Following his victory over dos Anjos, Covington said:
“I did everything I said I was going to do. I told everybody I was going to make the welterweight division great again, and now I’m going to celebrate how a real American should celebrate winning a world a title, and that’s going to the White House to see Mr. Donald Trump and put this on his desk, unlike the Filth-a-delphia Eagles disrespecting our flag and kneeling for the national anthem.”
Upon hearing Covington’s remarks following his UFC 225 victory, UFC President Dana White promised Colby that he would arrange the meeting. Earlier today Covington was able to present the title to President Trump as Dana White made good on his promise.
White along with Colby Covington were guests today at The White House and had the opportunity to meet the President of the United States. Covington took to social media today where he shared a picture of himself along with President Trump, who was sporting the UFC Welterweight Title over his shoulder.
Covington commented on having the opportunity to meet The President on Wednesday, saying:
“Like @realdonaldtrump always says: Promises made. Promises kept. Pleasure to finally meet you Mr. President. Thank you for always putting America first! #maga #GreatAmericanWinningMachine 🇺🇸”
