Brock Lesnar’s Departure From WWE After SummerSlam Not Guaranteed
Brock Lesnar surprised everyone back in April when he retained the WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania over Roman Reigns, it was announced the following day that Lesnar had resigned with the company. Lesnar signed a 3 month extension which expires shortly after SummerSlam.
Brock showed up at UFC 226 last month and set up a future fight between himself and the two division UFC Champion Daniel Cormier for the UFC Heavyweight Title sometime in the future. Brock re-entered the USADA testing pool in July, and has reportedly been tested multiple times already.
On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, it was noted that Brock Lesnar could always end up signing another WWE extension following SummerSlam, which could delay his fight with Daniel Cormier even more.
Regarding Brock Lesnar’s contract situation and potential future, it was said:
“If Vince wants to keep him and show everyone that, ‘hey I outbid UFC for this guy’ and ‘I screwed UFC out of this championship’ and don’t ever think that Vince isn’t that guy, cause that’s Vince. The idea that that guy went on that big show and did that big angle and he’s not gonna do it, I mean that’s Vince — Vince lives for that stuff.”
“Brock signed a 3 months contract, a 2 fight deal with WWE and it’s due again. I’m sure if Brock has his way he’ll sign another 3-month deal and tell UFC, ‘hey I’m gonna do this again, just a couple more things.’ He very well may lose the championship [at SummerSlam] but if he doesn’t I wouldn’t be surprised.”
