WWE Expected To Make A Major Play To Sign Top ROH & NJPW Talent Prior To G1 SuperCard at MSG
It has been reported on and speculated on for months that with WWE’s new deal’s with FOX and USA Network starting in 2019 that the company plans to make a big play for a lot of the top independent talent out there.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio the possibility of a big WWE spending spree in a push to sign up all the indy talent was discussed.
“Vince may grab everyone and I kind of expect attempts in that direction for sure. It’s going to make everything a lot more interesting. It may be the kiss of death and it may not. There are some obvious people The Young Bucks, Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, Cody who are in an incredible position right now and there are other guys like Hangman Page and Marty Scurll who aren’t in quite as an incredible position but they’re in a very good position.”
“It’s going to be very interesting to see what happens in December/January in a lot of ways. There are guys in WWE who’s contracts are running up too.”
It will be very interesting to see what plays out and how intent WWE is on trying to choke out any competition by scooping up all the top talent out there now that their resources are virtually limitless.
With the ROH/NJPW G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden in April, it would appear that WWE plans to make a big play to sign up as much talent from both companies before their upcoming event.
