Rey Mysterio Pulled From Indy Appearance Due To “Upcoming Contractual Situation With WWE”?

It appears as though Rey Mysterio’s rumored arrival in WWE is coming much sooner than later.

Independent wrestling promotion Northeast Wrestling has been advertising Rey Mysterio to appear on their upcoming Wrestling Under The Stars event on August 24th in Pittsfield, MA. Well, NEW has posted an update on their facebook page offering refunds to fans because Rey Mysterio will no longer be able to appear at the event “due to his upcoming contractual situation with WWE”.

NEW’s announcement stated:

“Unfortunately due to his upcoming contractual situation with WWE Rey Mysterio is unable to appear on August 24th. If you purchased Rey Mysterio preordered meet and greet items they will be refunded or can be used towards other superstars.”

No word on what exactly that means, but it should be noted that the NEW event falls the week following SummerSlam. WWE has debuted or brought up developmental talent the night following SummerSlam in the past. Maybe we could be seeing Rey as soon as Sunday’s SummerSlam, or Raw/SmackDown the following nights.
