Roman Reigns Wins The WWE Universal Title At SummerSlam – Strowman’s MITB Cash-In Attempt Thwarted
Tonight at SummerSlam we saw a NEW Universal Champion crowned.
Prior to the start of the match, Braun Strowman’s music hit and out came the “Monster in the Bank” with his MITB briefcase. Strowman entered the ring and demanded a mic. He said that he was tired of people cashing in the briefcase when somebody’s back is turned, so he was going to let Lesnar and Reigns know now that once their match was over, he was cashing in his MITB contract.
Roman was quick to spear Lesnar but got caught in a guillotine. Eventually Reigns escaped. Lesnar hit his usual belly to back suplexes spot. Reigns at one point went for a spear on Lesnar, but Brock sidestepped the attempt and Reigns was sent flying through the ropes ending up connecting with a suicide dive on Braun Strowman who was standing with the briefcase watching the match.
Lesnar attacked Strowman, hitting an F-5 on the floor and then striking Strowman repeatedly with the MITB briefcase. Lesnar then chucks the briefcase all the way up the ramp and aisle to the top of the stage. Lesnar grabs a chair and lays into Strowman again repeatedly with chairshots for good measure. With Strowman now out of the picture and no longer a threat to cash in the MITB contract, Lesnar goes back into the ring and is immediately caught by a huge spear from Roman Reigns.
Reigns covers Lesnar, gets the three count and the victory. And you new WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns celebrates with the belt as SummerSlam goes off the air.
