Netflix Original Series GLOW Based Off 80’s Wrestling Promotion Renewed For 3rd Season
It was announced yesterday that the hit Netflix show GLOW has been picked up for a third season.
The Netflix original GLOW is based off of the original promotion the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling. The shows renewal comes almost two months after the second series premiered on Netflix. The first season of GLOW was nominated for 8 Primetime Emmy Awards.
Many pro wrestlers and wrestling personalities have had a part on the show during its 2 season run. Former TNA Knockouts Champion Awesome Kong, known as Kharma during her short WWE run, appears in a recurring role on the show.
Other cameos include former WWE Superstar John Hennigan, formerly known as John Morrison appearing as Salty “The Sack” Johnson; Former IMPACT Star Tyrus, known as Brodus Clay in WWE, and Carlos Edwin, who played Carmen’s wrestler brothers; independent wrestling star Joey Ryan appeared as a wrestler named as “Mr. Monopoly”, and Ryan’s real-life wife and wrestler Laura James played the role of his valet, “Crystal”; former WWE Superstar Alex Riley played the part of a wrestler known as “Steel Horse”; former TNA Knockout Brooke Hogan, daughter to WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, appeared as night club manager Amber Fredrickson; former WCW/WWE/TNA Superstar Chavo Guerrero Jr. appeared as Chico Guapo; ROH Wrestlers Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian appeared on the show as unnamed wrestlers.
Also featured on the show were Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, and Gorgeous George, as they would all appear in archived video footage in episodes 1 & 4 in season one.
