The feud between Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano has been one of the featured storylines on NXT programming for over a year. The two batled in a last man standing match at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, Gargano once again came up short as Ciampa found a way to get to his feet first.
It seems the fans over the next string of shows were quick to remind Gargano of his inability to beat Ciampa. Gargano was treated to chants of “Johnny Failure” and then was sang a goodbye song on his way out of the arena.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez talked about the current situation with Johnny Gargano in NXT. Alvarez said:
“All I can tell you is this for like 2 months now I’ve said ‘he’s gotta be turning heel’ from how they’re doing this. Dating back to the prior TakeOver. They’re building up to Johnny just losing his mind and going crazy.”
