Update On What Level Of Involvement We Can Expect From Mick Foley As A Ref At Hell In A Cell
On last night’s episode of RAW we saw WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley be the one to interrupt Elias’ segment this week. Foley made his way to the ring, and got into a back and forth exchange with Elias which led to Foley revealing that he will be the special guest referee on Sunday for the WWE Universal Championship Match between Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman inside Hell in a Cell.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented on last night’s announcement that Foley will be the referee for the Universal Title HIAC Match. Meltzer noted that Foley’s involvement in the match is rather curious as there has been a “no bump” policy in place for him. Regarding Mick Foley’s involvement at Hell in a Cell, Meltzer said:
“The thing is because he’s not allowed to take any bumps or anything like that at least that’s what I was told because of his concussions and everything. So it’s like put him in there as a ref it’s kind of weird because a guest ref has to do something physical in theory.”
“But he’s not allowed to do anything physical. I guess he could do the mandible claw, there’s no reason he can’t do that. But do you really want him doing it on Strowman? I guess I don’t know. Strowman can’t hit him or anything as far as I know.”
We will have to see exactly how involved in the match Foley actually will be, considering his health, and the policy WWE has regarding him not bumping.
