UFC Heavyweight Title Fight Between Daniel Cormier And Brock Lesnar May Never Happen
Former WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar is scheduled to face Braun Strowman and current Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a triple threat match at WWE’s Crown Jewel event from Saudi Arabia on November 2nd. Although, as we reported yesterday WWE has come under fire this week from numerous members of the US Senate urging the company to re-evaluation their relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. If something happens, it has also been reported that WWE is planning on moving all matches, except the WWE World Cup, to the Survivor Series PPV later that month.
This would be interesting as it directly affects Brock Lesnar’s training, as he prepares for a future UFC Heavyweight Championship fight against Daniel Cormier. However, this fight potentially now may never happen. In a recent interview with ESPN, Daniel Cormier has said that he is heavily contemplating fighting Jon Jones for his last fight before he plans to retire instead of Lesnar. While Cormier admits that the fight with Lesnar would be the larger pay day, he says that the opponent who would matter the most to him is Jones, who holds two victories over Cormier.
Regarding his final fights before retirement, Cormier said:
“Counting the Lewis fight, I think I’m down to two fights left. Maybe this will be a blessing in disguise, the fact that I don’t have a crazy, long fight camp to beat myself down. That may prolong it for me, but right now, I think I have this one and maybe one more. I can still fight in March and hit my retirement date. The one opponent that would matter to me most is Jones, because he’s beaten me twice. The one that would mean more financially would be Lesnar. I think I would always pick the one that means more, but my wife might have something to say about that.”
