Update On Reason WWE Previously Changed Venues For Upcoming Crown Jewel PPV
WWE is still planning on holding their Crown Jewel event on November 2nd. It had previously been reported that WWE changed venues awhile back, and there had been some speculation as to the reason. Originally the event was set to be held in a 60,000 plus seating arena, but has now been moved to a venue that holds around 25,000.
WWE has recently been coming under fire for their current business relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, even having multiple Senators criticizing the company. Some even called for WWE to pause or put their deal on hold with Saudi Arabia.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented on the change to a smaller venue. He had new information as to why the decision was made to switch venues, stating that the original location was being renovated such was the need for the change.
Regarding Crown Jewels venue decision, Meltzer said:
“The bigger building is just being renovated, that’s like a non-story basically — they just didn’t know. That’s all Saudi Arabia. The moving from the 67,000 seat building to the 25,000 seat building.”
