Drew McIntyre Reportedly Still In Line For Big Push
As we saw on last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Drew McIntyre lost his WWE World Cup Qualifying match against Seth Rollins.
Even though Drew lost the match, he didn’t lose cleanly which in theory saves his momentum going into the rumored push that WWE has in store for McIntyre. McIntyre lost the match to Rollins by way of countout, securing Rollins spot in the World Cup Tournament.
We had reported a Bodyslam.net exclusive back in August stating that Drew McIntyre was in line for a huge push. You can read our original report here.
Drew McIntyre was discussed on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, and Dave Meltzer notes that WWE still has big plans in store for McIntyre going forward thus the reason he has been protected in matches as of late. Meltzer even compared Drew McIntyre to Randy Orton in what WWE is looking for regarding top-level talent.
When discussing Drew McIntyre, Meltzer said:
“They’re really protecting Drew. Yeah, I mean they really see stuff in him and they should. Like from day one when they got him back. Everything Vince McMahon wants from a guy, he’s got. I mean he can talk he’s got a good look. He’s tall, he’s got a good physique, and he’s a great wrestler. So it’s like he ticks all the boxes. I mean he’s like their Randy Orton, a prototype of what they want as a top guy.”
