Former UFC Lightweight Champ Eddie Alvarez Signs Multi-Fight Deal With MMA Promotion ONE Championship
Former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez has signed a deal with Asia-based MMA promotion “ONE Championship”.
The announcement was made Monday night via One Championship’s official twitter account and website.
Eddie Alvarez is ONE Championship’s highest-profile signing so far. The former UFC Lightweight Champ holds a professional record of 29 wins and 6 losses. Not only is Alvarez a former UFC Lightweight title holder, but he also held the 155 lb. Title in Bellator as well.
Alvarez defeated Rafael Dos Anjos in July of 2016 to gain the UFC Lightweight Championship. He held the title for four months before losing the belt to Conor McGregor on November 12th, 2016 at UFC 205.

Alvarez last fought at UFC on FOX back in July of this year. Alvarez headlined the event in the highly anticipated rematch against Dustin Poirier. Alvarez lost the fight by TKO in the second round. His UFC contract expired days later at the end of July.

ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong also posted an announcement on his official facebook page which welcomed former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez to ONE Championship. Regarding the signing of Eddie Alvarez, Sityodtong said via facebook:
