Episode five of Total Bellas brings viewers to the halfway point of the season. To say that it has been an emotional roller coaster is, quite frankly, the understatement of the year. Brie has been dealing with trying to balance motherhood and being a career woman while Nikki has been dealing with her engagement to John Cena ending. Both Bella’s are doing their best to get by in their crazy world, but is their best enough to keep them moving forward?
Make Up?
The episode starts off with Nikki getting ready to go to a signing to see fans. Brie was supposed to go with her, but Birdie isn’t feeling well which leaves Nikki to go to the event solo. Normally this would not be an issue for Nikki but today is a tough day for her; it has been almost a year since John proposed to her. Not only that, but today is the day that the news of her broken engagement to John goes public. It is obvious Nikki does not want to talk about it and is concerned that this is the only thing that fans will want to talk to her about. The signing goes through without any talk of John, however when Nikki meets up with Brie afterwards Brie tells Nikki that John was talking about their relationship on the Today show just that morning. Nikki is confused by the interview, specifically by John saying that they haven’t jumped ship yet. She admits that it is weird seeing him on TV while not being able to talk to him about everything.
Brie feels as if Nikki and John need to have a conversation about everything regarding themselves and their relationship. As if she could predict the future, John calls Nikki inviting her to dinner. Nikki agrees stating that she wants closure and Brie acts as Nikki’s hype woman telling her that she needs to act like a strong woman and that she’s got this. When Nikki arrives at dinner, John wants to talk about everything. Both agree that seeing each other at RAW 25 was weird, though this leads John asking Nikki point blank if she wants this to be over between them. It is easy to see that Nikki looks conflicted and shocked by the bluntness of this question. This leads to both of them talking about the relationship that they had, where John implies that Nikki had been giving him false hope. Nikki states that she goes with how she feels and to put it simply feelings can change. As the conversation continues and becomes a little more heated, once again it comes down to kids with both John and Nikki. John asks Nikki if she needs kids because she will get bored of him down the line, he also asks in the same breath if she has fallen out of love with him. This leads to her exclaiming, rather loudly, that she just wants to be a Mom.
Super Mom? Super CoCo?
Brie continues to feel as if she is being pulled in too many directions during this episode of Total Bellas. When Brie and Bryan must go back to their old house to pack up their stuff to move to the new house, they decide to leave Birdie with Nikki. This is the first time that they are leaving Birdie alone with Nikki and this is also the first time ever that Nikki is babysitting Birdie. Brie is nervous about leaving Birdie with Nikki, she gives Nikki 20,000 instructions on how to care of Birdie while Brie is gone. Nikki tells her not to worry about it though, Nikki will be Super CoCo, because Birdie calls her Auntie CoCo. Nikki is very proud of herself while she is spending this time with Birdie and thinks that this confirms that she could be a good Mom. While Brie is away with Bryan, Nikki hires a nanny to watch Birdie while she goes to the gym, trying to prove to Brie that she can be a career Mom and get things done, while also being a good Mom to Birdie. When Nikki tells Brie that she should get help and hire a nanny so that she can be more productive, it is obvious that Brie is torn about this. She is angry at first that Nikki hired a nanny to help her but the more she thinks about it, the more Brie starts to realize that maybe there is nothing wrong with asking for help every now and then.
Where Do the Bella’s Go from Here?
The episode ends with John telling Nikki that he will have kids with her, he will make that sacrifice for her. This leads to Nikki becoming very excited and both agree that the engagement is back on. As for Brie and Bryan they agree that they will hire a nanny so that both will be able to have their careers and still be good parents to Birdie. While it seems as if everything is going well for both Brie and Nikki, the sneak peak of the rest of the season at the end of the episode does not look so bright. The sneak peak shows viewers that they can look forward to seeing Nikki’s bachelorette weekend in Paris, but that Nikki continues to have mixed emotions and feelings on getting married to John. The sneak peak also shows that Brie and Bryan will have their own struggles as well. Bryan needs to be cleared by WWE to continue wrestling and from the looks of things, that might not happen. While it is unsure where the Bella’s will go from here, I know for a fact it will be entertaining and I most certainly will be watching to see what happens next.
