Update On Backstage & Internal Feelings Within WWE About Going To Saudi Arabia For Crown Jewel
As you are probably aware, WWE has been in the middle of a rather large controversy surrounding their trip to Saudi Arabia next month for their scheduled Crown Jewel PPV event. It had been speculated that the company may call of or move the event to another country in the wake of the apparent murder of Jamal Khassogi and the apparent involvement of the Saudi government in the ordeal.
But despite all of that WWE is planning for the show to go on as planned, and Crown Jewel will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 2nd.
In the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter there is a report concerning internal feelings within WWE regarding travel to Saudi Arabia. It was reported that “all of the production people” as well as Most of the talent” does not want to make the trip to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel. It was also said that the only thing that would keep WWE from going through with the show at this point would be a call from the United States President or the State Department. It was pointed out that at this juncture neither of those scenarios are likely to occur.
The number of employees, both talent and production wise, who are making the trip to Saudi Arabia this time around is far less than the number WWE brought along back in April for The Greatest Royal Rumble. It is being reported that WWE is only bringing roughly 19 Superstars along for the trip to Saudi Arabia this time, and that many of the people who made the first trip back in April weren’t happy about going, and how this trip even more controversial that the last.
It was also noted that WWE Management is said to be “strongly in support” of the company going ahead and continuing with the Saudi show, despite no one in production wanting to go.
