How Many Within WWE Were Aware Of Roman Reigns Leukemia Announcement Ahead Of Time
As by now you are probably aware of Roman Reigns announcement on RAW last night regarding a relapse of Leukemia which he was diagnosed with 11 years ago.
The announcement appeared to have hit everyone involved with the broadcast talent wise and crew as well. The reason that the news appeared to have struck everyone so hard, especially the members of the RAW announce team, was because nobody was aware that it was coming.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez talked about exactly how many people within WWE were of what Roman was going to reveal prior to him walking out and telling the world about his leukemia diagnosis on live television. According to Alvarez, not many people at all had any idea what was going to happen until it unfolded live on tv.
Regarding how many people within WWE were aware of what Roman was going to say, Alvarez said:
“I am told that a very small amount of people knew beforehand, probably between 6 and 8 of the top executives. So when the show opens and the announcers are all happy talking about Roman Reigns defending the title at Crown Jewel — none of that was a put-on.”
“None of them had any idea what was going on until he went out there and did his speech and he has since gone home and that’s the story. I guess we’ll just have to find out how well he does with treatment — the second battle, it’s worrisome.”
Again our deepest and most sincere thoughts and well wishes go out to Roman Reigns and his family and friends during this extremely difficult and trying time.
