WWE Informed Creative Team That John Cena Will Not Be Working Crown Jewel Event In Saudi Arabia
As we reported earlier, WWE’s Crown Jewel PPV event in Saudi Arabia on November 2nd is in serious jeopardy. There were reports going around yesterday that our friend Brad Shepard confirmed with his sources within WWE as well, that both John Cena and Daniel Bryan were refusing to work Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia.
The rumors and reports were discussed on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, and Dave Meltzer talked about the status of John Cena for Crown Jewel next month. Meltzer revealed that WWE’s creative team has been told that John Cena would NOT be on the upcoming Crown Jewel PPV card. But it should be noted that WWE interestingly enough still went ahead and plugged Cena’s appearance in the WWE World Cup tournament at Crown Jewel.
“There was a story about Cena and Daniel Bryan obviously. I do know in the afternoon that creative was told that Cena wasn’t going to be on the show and he needed to be replaced in the tournament. Obviously, if you watched the show during the Kurt Angle segment I was waiting and there was John Cena being advertised so, did something change? Or did they just go with the idea that, ‘Well, if we do it somewhere else then we can have him go?’”
“I don’t know what’s going on with him — Daniel Bryan, I don’t know if there’s anything to that or not. I don’t know if he wouldn’t go. I don’t know if that was a fake story. I asked WWE and they didn’t answer that question. I do know people as far as the creative side, they knew about Cena… they didn’t know about Daniel Bryan.”
We will keep you updated if we hear anything more regarding John Cena, and even Daniel Bryan’s status’ for Crown Jewel.
