Roman Reigns had to relinquish his Universal Title after announcing that he had leukaemia for 11 years and it was back, so he had to take time off in order to beat it. This shocked the entire wrestling world, leaving the spot of top guy vacant as of now.
WWE hasn’t looked back, considering they turned Elias face and Ambrose heel and will bring about more changes in the future, in the midst of Roman’s absence.
On Barnburner’s No Holds Barred podcast, Joe Peisich mentioned him hearing talks of NXT call-ups accelerating due to Roman’s exit. This is what he said:
“Look for several NXT call-ups to be brought to the main roster faster because let’s face it, Roman Reigns has been a worker. He’s been a main event face of the franchise. So I don’t know who they’re going to bring up, maybe Johnny Gargano maybe Aleister Black but somebody huge is going to be brought up faster than anything.”
NXT has an extensive roster of incredibly talented superstars who are ripe for the picking at this point. So it comes as no surprise some of them will be called up soon. It will be interesting to see who will be called up and how they will fit in the main roster.
