As we have seen over the last couple of months, Drake Maverick has been plugged into a role on RAW as the manager of The Authors of Pain, on top still maintaining his role as GM of 205 Live.
Many have questioned and wondered why the decision was made to have Maverick portray two completely different characters and roles on WWE programming. According to a new report from PWInsider the reason behind moving Drake Maverick over to RAW also was a decision that was made by Vince McMahon himself.
Regarding Drake Maverick pulling double duty with two characters on both RAW and 205 Live, Mike Johnson said:
“For those of you wondering how that happened — basically like a lot of things in WWE, Vince McMahon put out the edict and everybody got in line to do what Vince McMahon wanted.”
“It’s gotta be frustrating to be running 205 Live by the way, you’re trying to build things up and create some momentum for yourself and get the brand off the ground and then Vince goes: ‘No, I want Drake Maverick and he’s going to be a completely different character than he’s been on your TV show… by the way, he’s still on your TV show as the other character!”
