Due to Roman announcing he has leukemia and relinquishing the Universal title, the initial match set up was for Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman to fight for the title at WWE Crown Jewel. But there were talks of having Drew McIntyre included as well. But it seems that might not be happening anymore.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed Drew’s inclusion and said while he might be not added to the match at Crown Jewel, he will definitely be in the Universal Title picture soon enough. This is what he said:
“I got the impression that there was talk of Drew McIntyre being fit in there at some point. It looks like Drew McIntyre is going to be the guy that they put against Strowman next which makes sense given the angle.”
So it seems Drew will be challenging the winner of the match at Crown Jewel. If Braun becomes the Universal Champion, it would make sense for Drew to feud with him considering the current storyline featuring him. We will have to wait and see what happens.
