The Reason For Miz Qualifying For World Cup Finals At WWE Crown Jewel
Shane McMahon won the World Cup in shocking fashion and it was apparently supposed to happen for a long time.
The finals saw Dolph facing off against Miz but that didn’t go as plan, as Miz slipped on the outside and ”injured” himself. So he could no longer compete.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained WWE’s booking decision which resulted in Miz being the one who had to leave the match, in order to protect the other superstars in the tournament. This is what he said:
“I guess they felt that they didn’t want Rey to look weak and quit, they didn’t want Randy Orton to look weak and quit… obviously, they didn’t want Jeff Hardy to look weak and quit — so Miz had to be the one to look weak and quit for Shane to go in there.”
It should be mentioned that Miz kept on shouting that he was never injured before in order to flesh out the story more, which WWE had intended on doing.
