Daniel Cormier Calls Out Brock Lesnar At UFC 230 For Potential Super Fight On March 2nd
Last night at UFC 230 from Madison Square Garden in New York City, UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier defeated Derrick Lewis to retain his title.
Following the fight Cormier was interviewed by Joe Rogan, DC took the opportunity to call out WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, who was not in attendance for UFC 230 at MSG. Cormier dropped March 2nd as a potential date for their rumored Super Fight, which is expected to be a huge event for UFC from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio Dave Meltzer discussed a potential meeting between Lesnar and Cormier. Regarding their seemingly inevitable Super Fight, Meltzer said:
“He brought up the date of March 2nd where they’re going to have a big show in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas so that was the big night that [Cormier’s] talking about. Brock is in an interesting situation because you know he’s WWE Universal Champion and logic would tell you he’s either going to lose at the Royal Rumble or at WrestleMania. Of the 2, WrestleMania makes the most sense unless Roman Reigns is going to be back soon in that case you probably wanna do the event quicker.”
“But if you’re going to coronate somebody to be a big star obviously it’s going to be at WrestleMania and a week before Vince changes his mind and decides it’s not going to work but the thing with Strowman is he’s not going to sit there and say, ‘Oh god if he wins fans are going to turn on the show,’ which was always the fear and why he kept changing his mind all those other years [with Roman Reigns].”
“So WrestleMania would be April, March 2nd — you know it’s a risk because what if [Lesnar] gets a concussion? I don’t know, it’s unlikely because Brock has never gotten a concussion in an MMA fight, but there’s always a first time.”
