Chris Jericho Reveals That WWE Originally Wanted To Call His Finishing Hold The “STD”

Chris Jericho has done it all in professional wrestling and is a huge superstar wherever he goes. He has won countless matches with his Wall of Jericho Submission finisher. But apparently, WWE had other plans for the name.

On an episode of Talk Is Jericho recorded on the Cruise of Jericho, Chris revealed how WWE wanted to change the name of his finisher when he signed in 1999 for weird reasons and the names they came up with were interesting, to say the least. This is what he said:

”I had an experience with creative when they were giving me names for my finish. Because when I first came to WWE, my finish was called the Lion Tamer and Vince said: ‘Ah we’ve got too many lions. We have the Lion’s Den with Ken Shamrock.’ They had one match, ever called the Lion’s Den’s match with Ken Shamrock and it had just happened that week so by this timing thing because of the Lion’s Den — we can’t use the Liontamer, we’ve got too many lions already!”

Chris said he has a list of names from WWE of proposed names which include names like The Rock n Roll Finisher, the Salad Shooter, and the STD (Standing Torture Device).
