NXT Recap: Episode 477
Last week on NXT: Heavy Machinery and The Forgotten Sons tore the house down. Dakota Kai beat Taynara Conti in a quick match. Promo Parade happened, Johnny Gargano does not think he is in the wrong for attacking Aleister Black. Lars Sullivan and his orange ass tongue beat Velveteen Dream after Tommaso Ciampa distracted The Dream.
Cold Open
There wasn’t one.
Bianca Belair vs. Mia Yim
- HELL YES! Bianca and Mia are two of my favorites. I walk around the house with my three year old daughter doing Bianca’s entrance on the daily. Gets me so hyped.
- Mia Yim has some menacing ass music, pairs great with her entrance.
- Now remember Bianca is still UN-DUH-FE-T-ED and this NXT woman’s roster is larger than Smackdown’s roster.
- Belair starts the match very confident and doesn’t take Mia as a threat. Nigel tells us that Mia learned submission wrestling from Shayna Baszler so it’s wrong to take Yim lightly.
- Mia shows that Nigel is spot on when Yim takes control of the match. Bianca does some desperation moves to gain the advantage and seems to have taken Mia more seriously.
- They do really well at staying entertaining in a rest hold. Bianca snarls her face and chews gum while Mia shows struggle and constant movement.
- Belair’s offense is ruthless and powerful. Stomps, chokes and womanhandling. Mia look to be really struggling in this match.
- Belair just sits on Mia’s back while picking MIA’S HAIR OUT OF HER FINGERNAILS! Bianca is a special talent I tell ya what.
- The second part of the match is more of the same. The moves hit harder and are more dramatic but it’s still Bianca being too confident and Mia fighting with the most spirit.
- Bianca is able to keep the pressure on and get the win through pure will and strength. She looked rather relieved when the match was over, but still got that swagger going.
And I’m Like… There hasn’t been a Belair match where I haven’t been entertained. Bianca and Montez Ford need a reality show stat. They have so much of IT. I liked how the match was presented and there is no shame for Mia Yim in losing to Bianca. She is still UNDEFEATED.
Weird promo backstage with Ricochet, Pete Dunne and War Raiders. They argue about who is gonna be in the advantage match tonight but it felt real pro wrestling like and not organic.
#JohnnyDidNothingWrong
Matt Riddle talks about how he De-butted and then told Kassius Ohno he is gonna beat Ohno.
Karissa Rivera vs. Lacey Evans
- Karissa Rivera is a second generation talent. Not sure if its for Victor Rivera or Jose Luis Rivera.
- Lacey Evans comes out with a scowl and gives Karissa zero chances at offense in the beginning of the match. Weird match edit and all.
- Lacey pull out a cloth to dab the sweat from her face. I liked it better when Big Wool Big E did it. He is known as Big Wool because he is a heavy sweater.
- Lacey won with a punch to the face because its a Ladie’s Right.
- Lacey cuts a promo after the match about how NXT is full of classless and nasty women.
And I’m Like… This was another showcase match for Lacey Evans. Lacey’s tradwife character really treads the line of controversy. It’s super subtle yet right in your face. The nasty woman line really stuck out. I like how fleshed out the character is and seems like it’s main roster ready.
I think this is a great way for NXT to get all their talent on TV. NXT really knows how to maximize the hour it has. Part of the reason the show is so good. Sometimes I’m so excited for the future of WWE. I think the shit will be really good in like 20 years.
War Games Advantage Match
Hanson vs. Kyle O’Reilly
- Whoever wins this match gives their team the advantage at War Games. Two men start the match, whichever man wins this match, gains their team the third entry in the match.
- Kyle O’Reilly’s weird ass added a leg kick to his air guitar playing. I really didn’t like Undisputed Era’s theme song when they first debuted. Now I like it, the added emo screams help a lot.
- If you remove the gladiator part of Hanson’s gear, he wearing Samoa Joe trunks.
- By looking at the competitors you can tell how the match will play out. O’Reilly is a smarmy ass bitch that will need to use speed and manipulation to win while Hanson’s power will help him gain victory.
- Kyle got the advantage by taking Hanson’s leg out and trying to wear it down. Hanson is a bit too powerful though. The longer the match goes the better for Kyle because big man Hanson gets tired out quicker.
- This match is becoming a war of attrition. Looks to be going either way. Kyle is able to land quick strikes and leg submissions but Hanson only needs to land one or two blows to get his momentum back.
- Hanson has the match well in hand and Adam Cole shows up to cause the distraction. Dumb move on Hanson’s team. Undisputed Era is known to interfere, yet no one is out to stop Adam Cole.
- I mean Cole been out here for multiple minutes, landing kicks and everything. Finally Rowe comes out to help, but too little to late viking dude.
- Strong and Fish show up to beat up on Rowe. Which brings out Ricochet and Pete Dunne. Separately of course because UE is a damn team and the other crew is just a random assembly of wrestlers.
- All that chaos led to O’Reilly hitting Hanson with the tag title and gaining the win and advantage for War Games.
And I’m Like… First of all. How sad for Bobby Fish. He wins the tag titles, gets injured, Roddy replaces him and when Fish comes back from injury he just doesn’t get the belt back and is totally cool with it. The match was good for what it was. Really wish the good guys were a bit smarter. I’m thinking this leads to an Undisputed Era War Games win because of miscommunication on Pete Dunne and Ricochet’s part.
