REPORT: The Reason For Shayna Baszler Vs Kairi Sane At Takeover Being A 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match
Shayna Baszler defended her NXT Women’s title against Kairi Sane in a 2 out of 3 falls match. Shayna would retain her title with help from her Horsewomen comrades Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. Except towards the end of the match, Kairi also had Dakota Kai and Io Shirai to even the odds.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned how the match was done in such a way so as to build up a storyline featuring the 6 women in question. The Horsewomen will be feuding with Kairi, Dakota and Io. This is what he said:
“I know why they did a three falls match because they wanted to get interference and a couple falls and the whole idea was to build up this six-women feud with Io Shirai, Dakota Kai, and Kairi Sane so that’s kinda like the direction I guess. So I get why they took three falls for that but they really could have given them more time.”
So it is a matter of time till we see this feud in full force. But it is certain that the purpose for the match had been served.
