Becky Lynch spoke on the Ariel Helwani show, where she praised her connection with the wrestling fans. “Of course, it’s not the groundswell we have now. Those fans were the reason why she found such success.”
Lynch talked about how she relates to underdogs who were in a similar situation as her, but she admitted it’s easy to tell how much she loves pro wrestling as well.
“The thing is what I always wanted and when I set off was to make sure that women wrestling was the coolest thing on TV, right? And that people care about it. When you have someone like Ronda Rousey come in, it brings eyes, it brings attention.”
She also praised Ronda Rousey, saying:
“Ronda is doing amazingly well and taken to this like a duck to water. She’s taken to this beyond belief,”
Lynch admitted that she had resented Ronda a bit for getting the opportunities right away. She then said it makes things so much sweeter for her because she’s been able to achieve this herself without the company making a big plan of pushing her.
Becky will be defending her Smackdown Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair and Asuka in a triple threat TLC match at WWE TLC this Sunday. We will have to wait and see how that turns out.
