WrestleMania 35 Match Between Ronda Rousey & Becky Lynch Not Guaranteed
The highly anticipated matchup between SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey was originally scheduled to take place at last month’s WWE Survivor Series PPV.
However, the match was scrapped when Lynch was injured by Nia Jax during the SD Live invasion of RAW a week prior to the pay-per-view. Lynch was on the wrong end of a right hand from Nia Jax which resulted in a broken nose and concussion and was not cleared to compete, she was then replaced by Charlotte Flair.
After the change to their Survivor Series matchup, it had been rumored that the two would instead face off against each other at WrestleMania 35, it has even been rumored that the match could potentially end up being one of the shows Main Events.
On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez discussed the possibility of a Rousey vs. Lynch match at WrestleMania.
“There’s no guarantee that it’s not Ronda vs Becky vs Charlotte in a three-way. There are absolutely people in WWE who want that to be a three-way match. There’s no guarantee it’s not gonna be a three-way.”
“You know what? There’s also no guarantee that whatever the match is it’s actually going to close WrestleMania. There’s no guarantee. We don’t know what they’re gonna do.”
“I mean they’ve got ideas for the show, but I can tell you right now that they have ideas for the show and the ideas have already changed a few times and they had ideas for the Royal Rumble that changed a few times as evidenced by the fact that they announced a match and then pulled the match. The match still may be happening, like there’s a lot of stuff going on. So let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.”
