Mean Gene Okerlund Reported To Have Passed Away Due To Natural Causes
The entire Wrestling Community mourned the loss of one of the most beloved wrestling personalities today as the news of the passing of WWE Hall of Famer Mean Gene Okerlund broke Wednesday morning.
Todd Okerlund, son of Mean Gene, spoke to the Associated Press earlier today revealed that his father had passed away Wednesday morning in a nearby Sarasota Florida Hospital, with his wife Jeanne by his side.
The report added that Mean Gene had previously undergone three kidney transplants. His son Todd also told the AP that his father had also recently suffered a pretty bad fall a few weeks back, and that “it just kind of went from bad to worse.”
According to a report from The Minnesota Star Tribune, Mean Gene Okerlund passed away around 5:30 AM Wednesday from natural causes, while being treated in the Emergency Room in a Sarasota Hospital. It was said that Mean Gene had been dealing with “a lot of different issues” which also contributed to his passing.
