Kota Ibushi Reportedly Suffers Legitimate Injury During His Match At Wrestle Kingdom 13
The opening contest of NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 13 saw Kota Ibushi attempt to defend his NEVER Openweight Championship against Will Ospreay.
The two put on an incredibly fast paced and high impact match from bell to bell, but in the end Ibushi wasn’t able to hold off the challenger as Ospreay walked out of the Tokyo Dome with the belt. Ibushi however, was not lucky enough to have been able to walk out of the Tokyo Dome, instead he had to be stretchered out after he appeared to have suffered an injury during the match.
We have been told that Ibushi’s injury occurred during the spot that saw Kota hung upside down in the corner and was on the receiving end of multiple kicks to the face from Ospreay.
According to an update from NJPW.com, they are reporting that Ibushi suffer a concussion during his match with Ospreay at Wrestle Kingdom 13. The report added that Kota Ibushi’s condition is “not described as serious.”
Will Ospreay tweeted out an in-character response to the news of Ibushi’s injury during their match at Wrestle Kingdom 13, which you can see below.
My reckless style has shortened not only my career but my life.
You all wanted change, so that I have a long career.
You’ve just shorten everyone else’s. pic.twitter.com/CCH4crEMcj— “Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay (@WillOspreay) January 4, 2019
