NJPW Reportedly Opts To Stick With ROH And Will Not Work With All Elite Wrestling
It has been reported that the newly launched All Elite Wrestling was to have a meeting with NJPW and ROH Officials regarding a potential working relationship between the three promotions.
Members of The Elite did not have a good showing at this weekend’s Wrestle Kingdom 13 event, as they lost all of the matches they were involved in. This might have been an indication as to whether or not NJPW had any intention of working with The Elite and AEW now that they have officially left the promotion.
With Kenny Omega also officially announcing yesterday that he is indeed finished with New Japan Pro Wrestling, which we exclusively reported on Friday prior to Wrestle Kingdom, it’s being said that the outcome of yesterday’s reported meeting between the three promotions could have a significant impact on Omega’s decision as to where he will eventually sign.
The meeting yesterday between AEW, ROH, and NJPW was discussed on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. Dave Meltzer noted that the meeting appears to have not gone the way AEW had hoped. According to Meltzer’s report New Japan has decided not to work with AEW, and will only work with Ring of Honor for the time being, thus essentially leaving All Elite Wrestling on their own.
Regarding New Japan’s decision, Meltzer said:
“New Japan has made the decision that they are going to work with Ring Of Honor and right now, at least for now they’re not working with All Elite.”
Meltzer also went on to note that AEW had hoped to partner with NJPW for upcoming events, but that is not happening right now. The report also stated that the outcome of the meeting, and New Japan opting to NOT work with AEW might have cost them Kenny Omega.
We will have to see how things shake out over the next couple days, as it’s been said that Omega is meeting with WWE Officials today, and need a decision from him by the end of the day. With AEW teasing some special guests and major announcements for tomorrow’s Double or Nothing rally, it would make sense that WWE wants Omega’s decision today.
