WWE Reportedly Working On An Even Bigger Tribute For The Late “Mean” Gene Okerlund

WWE Hall of Famer “Mean” Gene Okerlund passed away on January 2nd, at the age of 76.

Last night WWE presented a tribute to “Mean” Gene on RAW, and it was lead by the returning Hulk Hogan. While many fans were upset over the fact that Hogan was returning to WWE TV to pay tribute and honor his late friend, it appears as though WWE had been working on a much bigger tribute for Okerlund than what we saw last night.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed WWE’s Tribute to “Mean” Gene. During the discussion it was revealed that WWE had apparently been working on a documentary honoring the late Hall of Famer prior to his death last week.

Regardinging WWE’s “Mean” Gene Okerlund tribute, Meltzer said:

“They were working on it back in November so I’ve got to think so. They were working on a big ‘Mean’ Gene project anyway.”

WWE has historically done a great job with their documentaries in the past, and with Okerlund’s recent passing it is likely that this project will become even more important than it already was.
