Update On How Win/Loss Record Might Come Into Play In All Elite Wrestling

AEW held their Double or Nothing Rally yesterday in front of the TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. While a lot of details revealed during the event were overshadowed by the appearances of former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville, and former IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho, some interesting statements were made.

During Cody Rhodes’ address during the Rally, he mentioned that Wins & Losses will matter in All Elite Wrestling like they have never mattered in wrestling before. It wasn’t known exactly what was meant by that statement and how a wrestlers win/loss record will come into play.

During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer, who has been accused of being in the pocket of AEW, possibly shed a little light onto what Cody meant by “wins and losses will matter like never before.”

When discussing how a wrestler’s win/loss record will matter in AEW, Meltzer said:

“It’s a very interesting period. They mentioned wins and losses, Cody mentioned wins and losses will matter. What I think I can say is that they are trying to, the mentality is to more market to sports-oriented. I think that I once said Mid-South Wrestling. I don’t think that’s exactly, I think they’re going to have their own take on it, but I think that’s the goal.”

Meltzer went on to add that Mid-South Wrestling’s Bill Watts was a genius, and implied that All Elite Wrestling will have their own take on Watts’ old school concept.
