Update On When Kenny Omega’s Contract With New Japan Expires
There has been a lot of debate and speculation lately about the current contract status of Kenny Omega. It’s known that Omega is still currently under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling, however it had not been known exactly when his contract expires. Some reports said his contract was up at the end of the January, others had it happening earlier in the month.
A new report from PWInsider appears to give a little more clarity as to exactly when Kenny Omega will be free to sign a contract with whomever he decides to go with. We had previously reported that Omega will go with All Elite Wrestling once his deal with New Japan is up, others still feel that the reported high dollar offer on the table from WWE will be too much to turn down.
One thing that is known is that Kenny Omega’s time with New Japan Pro Wrestling is done as we reported prior to Wrestle Kingdom 13, and Omega confirmed days later in an interview with Tokyo Sport. According to Mike Johnson in a recent audio update via PWInsider Elite, he sheds some light on when we should expect to hear an official statement from Omega.
“We are told that his deal with them expires the first week of February is what I was told.”
We will keep you updated when we hear more news regarding Kenny Omega’s upcoming free agent decision.
