Jim Ross Reported To Be Returning To Commentary For AEW & Will Be “Heavily Involved” With Company

Which the report first came out regarding plans for the newly launched All Elite Wrestling, one name that was initially said to be involved and connected with the project was Jim Ross. Although Ross has denied reports of his involvement in AEW, according to a report from Rajah, Ross is set to join company, and very well could end up as the voice of All Elite Wrestling.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was asked about Ross’ involvement with AEW, however Meltzer no-sold the question but saying he didn’t know.

Despite his denial of the reports, Jim Ross is indeed said to be “heavily involved” with All Elite Wrestling. Ross is said to not only be doing commentary, but that he is expected to have a backstage role also.

Jim Ross is still currently under contract with WWE until the end of March, which is more than likely the reason for Ross denying reports of his involvement with AEW. Ross has indicated that he does not plan on re-signing with WWE once his contract is up.

Ross had previously also been under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling, however he was unable to work out a new deal with the company due to his current deal with WWE. His current deal with WWE had allowed Ross to continue working with NJPW until his deal expired, but he was not allowed to sign a new contract with anyone until his WWE deal was up.

With All Elite Wrestling said to have a couple of potential television deals already on the table, as confirmed by Chris Jericho earlier this week on Busted Open, it would make sense that they would want to have a legendary voice like Ross’ to go along with any tv deal the company lands.
